XX Our model brain reflects the experiences of good and bad mental health days. Accepting bad days, as well as embracing good ones, can make things a lot more manageable for us. The two sided brain of colour and dullness, allowed us to recognise the importance of keeping our positivity safe from days we potentially feel down on and embracing when the two overlap. Through our creation of this piece we realised that its prominence was to evoke the reality that it is not always easy to predict when you’re going to be feeling down, and embrace when the two overlap.

My design is inspired by tractograms. The mishmash of symbols represents my exploration of "What makes humans humane?": Flowers for growth; hearts for self-compassion; animals for wisdom; and eyes for our human experience. All of which I learned through my mental health journey. Under the guise of childlike innocence in the design, lies my intention to acknowledge my inner child's pain and give them the love I wish I had for myself.
